What is Automatic Pipe Bending Machine Made of?

Pipe and Profile Bending Machine, also called pipe bender or profile bender, is designed to permanently form pipes or profiles into desired shapes. Pipe bending operations can be classified as bonded bending or non-bend bending, and these processes may involve heating or cold forming. In limiter type pipe bending, pipes or tubes are shaped with special molds.

Pipe bending operations can be classified as bonded bending or non-bend bending, and these processes may involve heating or cold forming. In limiter type pipe bending, pipes or tubes are shaped with special molds.

Straight pipes can be bent using an automatic pipe bender to make single or multiple bends with dies to create unique profiles. Form-dependent bending includes press bending and rotary drawing bending. These tube bending methods can produce complex shapes. On the other hand, free-form bending, including 3-cylinder push bending, creates workpieces kinematically. As a result, the bending profile does not depend on the bending tool geometry.

How Does Automatic Pipe Bending Machine Work?

Typically, the Tube and Profile Bending Machine uses mechanical force to press tubes or pipes of stock material into the mold. The materials will be pushed to conform to the designed shape of the mold. Tubes or tubing are usually held firmly in place, while the tip is controlled to rotate around the die. There are also shaping methods such as passing the stock material through rollers and bending it into desired curves. In some automatic tube bending machines, mandrels are inserted into the stock materials to prevent the parts from collapsing.

In automatic pipe bending machines, there are wiper molds that are responsible for keeping the pipes taut during the forces applied to the parts to remove wrinkles. More information about the components in automatic tube bending machines will be discussed later.

Structure of Automatic Pipe Bending Machine

With the development and improvement of the manufacture of automatic pipe bending machines, the machine works electromechanically. Automatic tube bending machines are usually driven by pneumatic, hydraulically driven or electric servo motors. CNC-controlled pipe benders use presses and rollers to guide and shape pipes along with farming operations.

Reliable bending machines can perform faster forming production and provide better consistency. It also eliminates line rendering errors at any scale. Important components of automatic tube bending machines include the bending die, clamp die, pressure die, wiper dies and mandrel. Most tools are made of hardened steel for longer life. However, softer alloys such as aluminum are used where dies can cause damage or scratching of materials.

  • Bending Die: Bending dies, which are the most vital components in rotary-drawn pipe bending machines, are also called radius dies or bending dies, bending dies used in automatic pipe bending machines. The steel pipe will be clamped to the bending die and will perform the pulling process.
  • Clamp Die: Clamp dies are responsible for pushing stock into the bending dies and preventing material from slipping.
  • Pressure Die: The pressure dies in automatic tube bending machines can make the stock material follow the pattern of the bending die.
  • Wiper Die: Wiper dies are mostly made of softer alloys such as aluminum and brass, alloys can prevent the die from scratching or damaging bent steel pipes. The purpose of the squeegee mold is to prevent the formation of bumps on the inner surfaces of the stock. In automatic tube bending machine, stripper dies work immediately after the bend dies, straightening the surfaces immediately after bending, which can cause creasing.
  • Mandrel: When bending aluminum or steel pipes on automatic pipe bender, mandrel is required for this kind of hard work. When creating some materials with smaller radii or harder surfaces, mandrels can be helpful to prevent stock materials from collapsing.

Different Type Automatic Pipe Bending Machine

  • According to the Bending Type: These are the classical bending methods used in cold pipes and tubes. The die will press on the stock material and force it to conform to the shape of the tool. Since the materials do not have internal support, oval section may occur in the deformation of the shapes. Press pipe bending is generally used where the operator does not need a consistent cross-section of steel pipes.
  • Rotary Draw Bending: This type of tube bending technology is much more precise as the die sets have a consistent CLR, centreline radius. The rotary draw automatic tube bender with indexing plate is widely used in the production of frames, automotive parts, handles, guardrails, etc. It is very popular for applications such as With a CNC system, they can provide complex and sophisticated tooling to perform critical bends and high performance.
  • Roll Bending: Steel pipes will be passed through a series of rollers that apply pressure to the materials and gradually bend them, forming the profiles. This bending method is ideal for processing long pipe strips and long smooth bends. Roll bending machines produce only minimal deformation in the cross-section of the stock material.
  • Induction Bending: Induction bending can be used for larger radius parts, thin-walled pipes, short radius elbows, etc. used for a wide variety of applications. An induction bending machine does not require a mandrel. The induction coil will be placed around a small portion of the stock materials at the bend point. They can provide high precision bending at desired angles. Accurate reels can be easily produced with this type of automatic pipe bending machine.
